Inertia and Momentum

Inertia and Momentum

Newton's First Law of Motion

A body at rest persists in its state of rest, and a body in motion remains in constant motion along a straight line unless acted upon by an external force.

Inertia: An object at rest tends to stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside force

Momentum:the motion of an object equal to the product of its mass and its velocity

My artistic production has lately lost momentum and fallen into a state of inertia. It seems that Newton’s first law not only describes the physics of material bodies but can also be used to understand a state of mind. The holidays have a way of disrupting routine with the travel and all the attendant distractions and I’m leaning on that crutch to explain why I haven’t posted for the past month. It’s a new year and a time for new resolutions so let’s see if we can build up a little momentum and get the ball rolling again. Until next week…
